Lenten Worship and Christ in Our Home

Lenten Worship

Remember you are dust, and to dust you shall return.

These words spoken every Ash Wednesday remind us that we are mortal beings who will once again return to the very space-stuff from which we were created. During Lent, we reflect upon these words and introduce a prayerful discipline to our daily lives.

One way this Lenten practice is reflected and observed is during our Wednesday night Holden Evening Prayer service, held together with St. John’s Lutheran. This service includes congregational meditative singing, a short dramatic reflection, instrumentalists, and song leaders, all lifting up the spirited music of the beloved Holden service. In a world that is filled with confusion and doubt, we are a song in the night.

Christ in Our Home: A Daily Devotional for All

Every three months, we set out fresh copies of Christ in Our Home, a daily devotional designed to bring scripture, reflection, and prayer into our everyday lives. This booklet follows the Revised Common Lectionary, offering a meaningful way to connect with God’s word, whether you start your morning with it, reflect during lunch, or wind down in the evening. Each day’s devotion includes a Bible verse, a short reflection, and a prayer—guiding you to pause, reflect, and grow in faith.

For many in our congregation, Christ in Our Home has become a regular part of their daily life. Whether you are looking for a moment of peace in a busy schedule or seeking guidance during a difficult time, these devotionals serve as a reminder that God’s presence is always with us. They are also a wonderful tool for strengthening family devotion time, offering a simple and accessible way to read scripture and pray together.

We encourage you to pick up a copy at the Welcome Desk for yourself, and also consider sharing one with a friend, family member, or neighbor who might appreciate a little extra encouragement in their faith journey. Whether it’s someone who can no longer make it to church regularly, a college student away from home, or a coworker who could use a source of hope, these small books have the power to inspire and uplift. Let’s continue to share the love of Christ through this simple yet meaningful resource!

If you are reading this and are unable to pick one up at church, please email Mara, and we will get one mailed to you every three months!
