March Foundation Grants
March 11, 2025
At its March meeting, the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd Foundation Board made the following grants:
Community Emergency Service
The Foundation granted $10,000 to Community Emergency Service (CES) for vital and long-sustaining renovations to its food shelf so they can better meet the needs of their Phillips-Midtown neighbors. CES is currently raising funds to renovate its location in the basement of Augustana Lutheran Church, a nearly 100-year-old building. CES is serving a record-breaking number of people in one of the most diverse and economically challenged communities in Minneapolis.
Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd has a long-standing relationship with CES. On the first Sunday of the month, non-perishable food shelf collections are donated to CES.
Humble Walk Dinner Church
The Foundation granted $3600 to Humble Walk Lutheran Church to support dinner church with Shobi’s Table. The goal is to nourish both the soul and body. Humble Walk is in the West 7th neighborhood of St. Paul and reaches people on the margins through services, art projects, music, and youth and community events. The community meal will be catered by Shobi’s Table. Meals catered through Shobi’s Table maximize the impact because every meal purchased through its catering program supports those who are unable to pay at Shobi’s Table's pay-as-you-can food truck.
Humble Walk Lutheran Church and Shobi’s Table are both Mission Starts of the St. Paul Synod of the ELCA.
Thank You!
Members of Good Shepherd are also members of the Foundation. Thank you for all you do to support the Foundation and its work. The Foundation is grateful for memorial, celebration, and legacy gifts that enable the Foundation to continue its support for the congregation and its outreach.
